Campus wayfinding across every building, floor and room number.
DigiMaps is campus map software for universities, colleges and schools. Map every building on one georeferenced campus, each with its own floors. Students and visitors then search a room number, find the library or an open-day talk, and follow a step-free route on a kiosk, their phone or the map on your website.
- 1 Kiosk at the main gate. The route starts here.
- 2 Block B entrance. Room B-1.04 is on Level 1.
- 3 Covered walkway. Routes can prefer indoor paths.
What people ask at the main gate.
New students, parents on open day, external examiners and delivery drivers all ask the same handful of questions. Each one is a search, a tile or a button on the kiosk, and the answer can go home on their phone.
- Where is room B-1.04? Block B, Level 1. Typing “b104” finds it.
- Which building is the library in? Main building, Ground floor.
- Where do I go for student services? Main building, next to Lecture hall A.
- Where is the open-day welcome talk? Lecture hall A, 10:00. What’s on has a Take me there button.
- Is there a step-free way to Block C? Step-free routes use lifts and ramps, and can prefer indoor paths.
- Can I keep the map on my phone? Scan the kiosk’s QR code, or open it from the university website.
Every building keeps its own floors.
One campus is one venue in Studio, with as many buildings as you have. Each one gets its own floor picker.
- Up to 50 floors per building. Add, rename or duplicate buildings and floors as the estate changes.
- Georeference the campus in WGS84 so buildings sit where they really are, or keep a single building in local metres.
- Measure one known wall and the whole plan snaps to true scale. Distances and walking times are in real metres.
- DXF drawings import without AI. A PDF can be traced with AI assistance, and your team reviews every room.
Type “b104”. Get Seminar room B-1.04.
Students search the way room numbers appear on their timetable, with or without dots and dashes. The campus pack adds the words they use for everything else.

Example scenario, not a customer
Open day at Wayvale University.
A fictional campus with four buildings and six kiosks. One family’s morning, and what the screens did for them.

Main gate kiosk
A parent and a prospective student tap What’s on, choose the 10:00 welcome talk, switch on Step-free and scan the QR code. The route opens on their phone.

They type “b104” on the phone for the next subject talk. With indoor paths preferred, the route crosses to Block B by the covered walkway.

The Block C lift is out of service. The kiosk says no step-free way to Level 1 is open and flags a best-effort route, so they ask a student guide.
Questions universities ask us
Is DigiMaps the same as Digimap?
No. DigiMaps is indoor wayfinding software made by DigiSigns, a digital signage company in New Delhi. It has no connection with Digimap, the map data service that EDINA runs for universities and colleges in the UK.
Can it cover the outdoor paths between buildings?
Yes. On a georeferenced campus every building sits at its real position (WGS84), and the paths between buildings are part of the walking graph, drawn by your team or by ours. An outdoor basemap is optional, and it is switched off in the on-premises server build.
Can students search by room number?
Yes. Room numbers match without separators, so “b104” finds B-1.04, and Arabic-Indic digits work too. Search also forgives one wrong letter in longer words and knows everyday words, so “loo” finds the restrooms.
Can we embed the map on the university website?
Yes. The map runs in an iframe on any page, and your page can talk to it with postMessage, for example to open a building from a “Find us” button. A JavaScript SDK with React and web-component wrappers is available on request; it is not published on npm yet.
Does the map show where I am on campus?
On a kiosk, the route starts from the kiosk’s fixed position. On a phone, visitors pick a start or arrive from a kiosk QR code, and on a georeferenced campus the phone can use GPS after the visitor taps locate-me, but GPS alone never drives turn-by-turn guidance. A blue dot inside buildings needs a commissioned positioning pilot.
Can each department edit its own rooms?
Roles are set per venue, not per building or department. A content editor can change names and opening hours across the campus, staff with the live-content grant can post events and notices, and changes to the map itself need a map editor or admin. Enterprise SSO via SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect lets staff sign in to Studio with university accounts.
Bring us the three buildings people ask about most.
Send us the site plan and the floor plans for those buildings. On a 30-minute call we show the campus pack on a demo venue, with room-number search and an open-day programme in What’s on, and tell you what we would need to map your estate in a pilot. We are looking for our first pilot campuses.
