Airport and station wayfinding, from check‑in to the gate.

DigiMaps is wayfinding software for airport terminals and transit stations. Passengers find gates, check-in, baggage reclaim, platforms and prayer rooms on kiosks, their phones or your signage, and a lift ride is one step. Closures re-route every screen within seconds. Flight and departure boards are integration work, shown once we connect your own feed.

Information Asked at the desk this morning
  • How far is Gate 12? Departures level, 46 m by escalator. About 1 minute. Level: Departures
  • Is there a lift instead of the escalator? Step-free routes use the lifts: 96 m, about 2 minutes.
  • Where do I collect my bags? Baggage reclaim, in the arrivals hall. Level: Arrivals
  • Where can I pray before my flight? Prayer room, Arrivals level, next to the lifts. Level: Arrivals
  • Is my flight on time? On the Flights tile, once the airport’s flight-information feed is connected.
  • Can I take the route on my phone? Scan the QR code. Same route, same language, no app.
Each answer is what a DigiMaps kiosk on the Arrivals level gives. Wayvale Airport is a fictional airport.

One lift ride, one instruction, from Arrivals to Departures.

A passenger at the Arrivals kiosk searches “gate 12” and switches on Step-free. The route moves to the lifts, and the ride is a single numbered step that names Departures, the floor they get out at. Add a stop on the way and the router picks the prayer room or restroom that keeps the whole journey shortest.

  1. 1 Kiosk on the Arrivals level, by Check-in A. The route starts here.
  2. 2 Lifts. The ride passes Security without a second instruction.
  3. 3 Gate 12, Departures: 96 m, about 2 minutes.

Two packs: one for terminals, one for stations.

Choose Airport or Transit when you create the venue. The pack sets the tiles, the vocabulary passengers type and the rules that read your CAD labels. You can change any of it.

A tile only appears when a public place sits behind it. Both packs include the six routing profiles, from wheelchair to low vision.

Flight and departure boards, from your own feeds.

The flight-information and transit boards read your FIDS or GTFS-RT feed with your credentials. That makes them integration work rather than a switch: we connect them during the project and test them with your data before go-live.

Passengers’ languages, with the gaps stated.

Venue content can be written in any of 54 languages, up to 24 per venue, with right-to-left Arabic. With three or more, the kiosk shows a language picker, and its attract screen invites people in every venue language at once.

Search works across scripts: a passenger typing in Latin letters finds Arabic or Cyrillic names. Spoken directions depend on the voices installed on each kiosk, so we check them on your hardware.

Example scenario, not a customer

An early morning at Wayvale Airport.

A fictional terminal with three levels. An escalator fails, a passenger changes language, and a kiosk drops off the network.

How live closures and emergency mode work
  1. 05:30

    Facilities · Live

Escalator E2 to Departures goes out of service. Facilities close it and post a notice to the Arrivals-level kiosks, in English, Arabic and Russian.

Within seconds, routes to the gates use the lifts. Passengers already on a route are re-routed and told why.

  2. 06:10

    Passenger · Arrivals kiosk

Searches “gate 12”, switches the kiosk to Arabic and scans the QR code.

Their phone opens the same route in Arabic, starting from that kiosk. No app.

  3. 06:11

    Same kiosk

Nobody touches it for 60 seconds.

Search, route, language and accessibility settings are cleared for the next passenger.

  4. 07:45

    IT · Fleet

A kiosk near Gate 14 stops sending heartbeats.

An offline alert goes out by email and webhook. The kiosk keeps showing its cached map and routes.

  5. 08:40

    Facilities · Live

    Ends the escalator closure.

Routes to the gates use the escalator again.

Questions airport and station teams ask us

Can DigiMaps show live flight information?

Yes, when you connect your feed. The flight-information (FIDS) and transit (GTFS-RT) boards read your provider’s feed with your credentials, so we set them up as part of the project and test them with your data before go-live. DigiMaps has no built-in source of flight data.

Can we export our terminal map as IMDF?

Yes. Any venue can be exported as IMDF, GeoJSON or KML at any time. We have not had an export validated by Apple, so treat submission to Apple’s indoor maps programme as a separate step with its own checks.

How many screens can it run?

We do not publish a screen limit, and we have not yet run a terminal-sized fleet, so we size the hosting with you for your screen count. Every kiosk is registered in Studio with its own device token, and the Fleet page tracks heartbeats, offline alerts and monthly uptime reports for all of them, offline kiosks first.

Do passengers need an app or beacons?

No. Kiosks have a fixed You are here point, and a QR code moves the route to the passenger’s phone browser without an app. A moving blue dot on phones needs beacons or a positioning provider, a site survey and, on iPhone, a native app. We offer it as a commissioned pilot and report the accuracy we measure.

Does it work for railway and metro stations?

Yes. The transit pack sets up Platforms, Departures, Tickets, Exits, Bus and Taxi as kiosk home tiles, with 37 synonym groups in English and Arabic. Live departures appear when you connect your GTFS-RT feed.

Can routes avoid crowded areas such as security?

Only with live data. Connect your occupancy or Wi-Fi-count feed and routes can steer around crowds, or post closures live from Studio. We have tested crowd-aware routing with synthetic data only, so we would prove it on your feed first.

Talk to us about your terminal.

Send us the plans for one terminal or station and a list of your screens. On a 30-minute call we show the airport pack on a demo venue, a closure re-routing every kiosk and an IMDF export, and list the feeds a pilot would need from you. We are looking for our first pilot sites.
