Indoor wayfinding in India, from a team in New Delhi.
DigiMaps is indoor wayfinding software made by DigiSigns in New Delhi. It puts one map of your hospital, mall, campus or government building on kiosks, phones and signage, and runs in our cloud or on one server inside your own network. Our team works Indian hours: 10:00 to 19:00 IST, Monday to Friday.
- 1 DigiMaps Server in the data room: API, database, Studio and Wayfinder on one machine.
- 2 Kiosks on their own VLAN. The server’s firewall admits only the kiosk and admin subnets.
- 3 Kiosk at OPD registration. Routes start here, with no beacons.
- 4 No internet link needed. Updates arrive as an offline bundle.
Wayvale General Hospital is a fictional venue.
What Indian hospitals now ask for, and where DigiMaps stands.
Public hospitals have started to specify indoor navigation in detail. This list follows public reporting on AIIMS Delhi’s Disha system, set against what DigiMaps does today. DigiSigns was not involved in that project.
| The requirement | What DigiMaps does | Status today |
|---|---|---|
| Shortest and accessible routes, including wheelchair routes | Six routing profiles. Step-free is a hard rule: a wheelchair route never uses a stepped edge, even when that is the only way. | Available |
| Search for departments, the lab and the pharmacy | The hospital pack’s kiosk tiles cover departments, clinics, pharmacy, restrooms, prayer rooms and emergency. Search tolerates typos and everyday words. | Available |
| Works offline | After the first load, kiosks keep the map, search and directions when the network drops, and catch up when it returns. | Available |
| On-premises kiosks and server | DigiMaps Server runs the whole platform on one machine on your network, with no internet connection if you need it. | Available |
| Voice guidance as well as visual directions | Listen reads place cards and routes aloud where the kiosk has a voice for that language. Check Hindi voices on the hardware you buy. | Depends on the device |
| Several languages | English is complete. Hindi and other Indian languages need your translations and, for map labels, a font you supply. Details below. | Partly |
| Crowd heat maps | Anonymous statistics with heatmaps of where visitors go. Routing around crowds needs your occupancy or Wi-Fi-count feed. | Heatmaps yes; crowd routing needs your feed |
| Room-level location on the visitor’s phone (BLE) | Offered only as a commissioned pilot: we survey your building and report the accuracy we measure there. It has not yet been proven at a live venue. | Pilot only |

Keep patient and visitor data inside the hospital.
Government tenders in India often ask for data to stay in the country, and many hospitals want it inside the building. DigiMaps Server runs the whole platform on one machine on your network, including sites with no internet connection at all.
Your IT team keeps the server, the backups and the keys. Each kiosk has its own device token, so you can cut off one screen without touching the others.

The DPDP Act: facts for your counsel, not a badge.
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is your organisation’s obligation to assess. We do not claim compliance. We can tell your legal and IT teams exactly what DigiMaps collects, and what it never asks for.
Built into the product
- Visitors are anonymous. No accounts, no sign-in, no personal-data forms on kiosks.
- Every visitor reset starts a new anonymous session.
- Phone numbers, e-mail addresses and long digit runs typed into search are replaced before storage, on the kiosk and on the server.
- Hospital and government venues drop typed search text altogether.
- Statistics hide any group smaller than five visitors.
- Analytics are deleted after 395 days by default, configurable per venue.
- On the on-premises edition, all of it stays on your server and its backups.
What we do not claim
- DPDP Act compliance. That judgement belongs to your counsel. We answer their questions in writing.
- In-country cloud by default. Our cloud keeps data in the region your contract names; nothing in the product pins a region by itself. If data must stay in your building, choose the server.
- Security certifications. We do not hold any yet. See the security evidence we can show you.
Hindi and other Indian languages: what works today.
You can write venue names, notices and slides in any of the 54 languages in our catalogue, up to 24 per venue. What comes built in is narrower, and it matters most for kiosks, where visitors type.
| Feature | English | Hindi हिन्दी | Marathi, Nepali मराठी, नेपाली | Urdu اردو | Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi and others |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kiosk buttons and labels | Built in | English until your team adds Hindi text | English until your team adds text | English until your team adds Urdu text | English until your team adds text |
| Industry-pack words (categories, synonyms) | Complete | Draft, for your team to check | Not included | Draft, for your team to check | Not included |
| Map label font | Bundled | You supply a Devanagari font | You supply a Devanagari font | Arabic-script font bundled; check your labels with us | You supply the font |
| On-screen keyboard | Latin | Devanagari | Devanagari | Urdu, right to left | No layout |
Where a script has no keyboard layout, visitors can still find places through the directory and the home tiles. Every translation, in any language, goes live only after your reviewer approves it.
Three ways to buy, depending on who you are.
Private venues can come to us directly. Public tenders usually need a local integrator to bid, install and maintain, and we work behind them. Integrators who want DigiMaps in their own catalogue can join the partner programme for integrators.
- 30-minute demo on a sample venue
- Pilot on one site, scope agreed in writing
- Roll out floors, buildings and screens
- Your system integrator or signage partner bids and holds the contract
- We supply the software, kiosk setup guides and training
- The partner installs and supports on site; we back them up
- Join the partner programme
- Run many client venues from one Studio
- Theme each venue in the client’s brand

Questions from Indian buyers
Is DigiMaps made in India?
Yes. DigiMaps is built and supported by DigiSigns, operated by Digiboard Tech Private Limited, in New Delhi. Our support hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 19:00 IST, and you deal directly with the team that writes the software.
Does DigiMaps work in Hindi?
Partly, and we would rather be exact. You can write place names, notices and slides in Hindi, and kiosks have a Devanagari on-screen keyboard. The Hindi wording in our industry packs is a draft your team checks, the kiosk’s own buttons stay in English until Hindi text is added and approved, and you supply a Devanagari font for map labels.
Is DigiMaps compliant with the DPDP Act?
We do not claim compliance; whether your deployment meets the Act is for your counsel to judge. What we can show them: visitors are anonymous, kiosks have no sign-in or personal-data forms, phone numbers and e-mail addresses typed into search are scrubbed, small groups are hidden in statistics, and analytics are deleted after 395 days by default. On the on-premises edition, all of it stays on your server.
Can it run in a government hospital with no internet connection?
Yes. DigiMaps Server runs the API, database, Studio and Wayfinder on one machine on your network, makes no outbound calls by default, and takes updates as an offline bundle. Kiosks keep working from their cached map if the local network drops.
Can we buy DigiMaps through our system integrator?
Yes. For public tenders, your system integrator or signage partner can hold the contract, with DigiSigns supplying the software, kiosk setup guides and training. Private hospitals, malls and campuses can also buy from us directly, starting with a pilot on one site.
Do we need beacons in the building?
No. Each kiosk has a fixed “You are here” point, so every route starts from where the visitor is standing. Phone positioning can be added later as a commissioned pilot: we survey your building and report the accuracy measured on site.
